I know this may sound very silly, but I recently purchased a fairly good set of teflon skillets. No small feat for me, I might add. Unfortunately, I have a bit of a dilema...How do I store my new skillets without damaging the teflon? With my regular revere wear, I can just stack the skilltes but with teflon, I'm afraind of damaging the telflon. Any suggestions?

Thanks -
chrisgil

Hi Chris,

To store teflon when you need to stack them, take a couple of sheets of paper towels, the thicker varieties and fold them to fit in the bottom of each pan. These towels will last for several months before needing to be changed. The newer teflon is stronger than the old stuff but I always take the cautious route.
Now for the survey that was posted above your question. I don't have any teflon. I have my great old cast iron cook ware and some Revere Ware. Be careful to not over heat teflon because it can give off toxic fumes. Years ago when I had parrots I was warned to not use teflon because the fumes can kill a bird.

Thanks for writing!

Kate

Hey All,

Teflon is great for eggs, grilled sandwiches, pancakes/french toast and such. However, we have this cast iron skillet, (my wifes prior to me from the 70's) that ROCKS !! This skillet is virtually non-stick. We use it for everything. So if you ever come across a well-seasoned (oiled) antique-ish cast iron skillet, buy it. I see them here in Michigan all the time at Flea Markets and Antique stores.
