|
|
I recently spent a night in the hospital after suffering some very scary chest pains. It was not a heart attack, but blood tests showed that my potassium levels were very low. Potassium is essential for good heart function and a lack of it can cause muscle spasms. I have since added a potassium supplement to my vitamins. My neighbor Michael emailed this list to me to show the potassium content of various foods.
Here are the milligrams of potassium in 1000 grams
of food:
dulse 8060,
kelp 5273,
Irish moss 2844,
pistachio nuts 972,
dehydrated prunes 940,
sunflower seeds 920,
dried lentils 790,
raisins 763,
parsley 727,
dried prunes 694,
cress 606,
avocado 604,
yams 600,
beet greens 570,
water chestnuts 500,
spinach 470,
millet 530,
potato with skin 407,
banana 370,
carrots 341,
oranges 200. _________________ A closed mouth gathers no feet. |
