Hi everyone
I just joined the site today, and I'm loving it. I've already made the blueberry scones, and am gonna try the fat-free pie crust tomorrow. Just had some questions, I've got a huge piece of root ginger that I got to try a stir-fry recipe. I only need a tablespoonful for the recipe. Could I maybe grate and freeze the rest of it, or how long would it keep in the fridge?
Also, I won a pomegranate in Sainsburys the other day, I've eaten it before just with a spoon, but would like to try something a bit different with it? Any ideas?
Thank you |

I'm so glad you are enjoying our site. Guido and I have put a lot of hard work into it.
As for the ginger root, it will keep for quite awhile in the vegetable bin. Place the root in a brown paper bag. Wrapping it in plastic wrap will cause it to mold. But yes you can grate and freeze it.
Try putting the pomegranate seeds in a salad, sprinkled over oatmeal or into muffins (or scones). _________________ Life's short...eat dessert first. |

| what about trying the pomegranite in a smoothie (with other fruits too). It would add a lovely colour. |

in Italy we made a fruit salad called "macedonia" usually made with apple, tangerine, banana, grapes, kiwi, pineapple, and for a touch of color, we put pomegranate or strawberries according to season.
Dice all the big fruits add 1 tablespoon sugar, and juice of a lemon.
Some people (me included) add the juice of half pomegranate to the lemon.
something like this:
There are some recipes on this site:
