Karen you can use the pork mince in this Tourtiere-Canadian Meat Pie. It's delicious!

Believe it or not I actually looked at that recipe last night, I must've forgotten ground pork is minced pork.
That looks excellent, and I've already got all the ingredients. Shall be trying that sometime this week. Thanks, Kate |

| Tourtiere - Canadian Meat Pie is yummy!!! The fat free pie is better if you use more liquid in the filling. My sister made it but only made a little one. she didnt put much liquid in and found it tough. I put loads of bechmal sauce with chicken stock and white wine mixed in. Its yumm!!!! |

Good idea Paula. I've frozen them unbaked but never baked. _________________ A closed mouth gathers no feet. |

That's good to know, although with a pie or something it usually gets reheated at lunchtime the next day.
Another question....I've noticed in some of your recipes, Kate, that you use unsweetened apple sauce, is there anything I could substitute that with? The only thing I can find is apple pie filling |

No applesauce in Ireland? Making your own is very easy. You could just peel amd steam an apple and mash it up, add a bit of sugar and use that. I really can't think of a good substitute for applesauce. I have my recipe for applesauce on yummyfood. It's delicious and you can freeze it. _________________ A closed mouth gathers no feet. |

| Karen, if you have a Tesco over there, they do unsweetened apple sauce. It's more expensive than the cheaper brands but is a lot nicer. I'll have a look on Saturday (if i remember!!) to see if i can see some, and i'll let you know what brands make it. |

The only reason I specified unsweetened applesauce is that the recipe already has sugar. You can use sweetened but should decrease the sugar by one or two teaspoons, depending on how much applesauce you are using. _________________ A closed mouth gathers no feet. |
