During this week, I have been trying some international recipes I downloaded from the internet, to see if I could find some "yummyfood".
I need to say i have been very disappointed, because none of the dishes came out, at least, decent (note in not saying good).

One asian recipe for shrimps came out tasting of everything but shrimps.
Another italian recipe for a pasta sauce came out so salty that also a goat would refuse to eat it.
I found while in the kitchen that another recipes was missing part of the directions.

Now we aren't perfect, but at least, we think twice before posting a recipe.
So we encourage all of you to post comments if one of our recipes did not came out good and tell us what was wrong for you.

some recipes on other sites, i think, are just totally made up from thin air! At least the ones on here are real recipes that turn out well. I always welcome constructive criticism of my recipes - i eat pretty much everything so i never notice if things aren't totally right! - Except the fish i tried to make in my slow cooker last week, that went straight in the bin!

I've had the same problems. I bought a cookbook once from the domestic maven whom I will call "MS" and several of the recipes just didn't work. That was many years ago. I have since learned to look at a recipe and tell if it is workable. It turned out in the MS recipe book, key ingredients were missing, or the amount was not correct. I welcome critiques on our recipes. I think some recipes get low ratings here because it doesn't suit a person particular taste, and we still have problems with robots rating our recipes.

Paula did you get the fish smell out yet? I had misgivings about cooking fish that way. Try my Bouillibase Soup in the slow cooker and add the fish when you get home. On high it should only take about 30 minutes depending on how big the pieces are.

I cooked a beef casserole in there the other day and that got rid of it, and the beef/gravy didnt taste like fish. It was awful though! I've never made something that tasted so bad! I have to look at my slow cooker and see if i can figure out how to change the temperature. I found the time changing button easily, but cant seem to find any other heat except low. I'll have to read the instructions again i think.

You have a time setting? I only have heat settings, low or high.

I think the worst smell I ever had in my kitchen was when I left eggs to boil and forgot about them. They exploded all over and smelled like sulfur...ewwwww

Yeah, it's a digital timer that counts down, you can set it to 6, 8, 10 or 12 hours. I cant find any reference in the instructions to heat settings tho. Think it only has a timer Sad

If there was a heat setting , it should be along side the timer I would think. What brand is the slow cooker?

It's a Morphy Richards 48730 (i think thats right). It's the stainless steel version that serves an army!

Oh that must be a British one then. Mine is about a 2 quart with a removable crock.

the crock pot is removable, but the outer casing is stainless steel. Didn't realise Morphy Richards was a British brand! Figured most brands sell everywhere. It doesn't say how many cups/quarts it holds, but it's to feed about 6 people according to the info about it on Amazon (im sure it can feed a lot more by the size of it!), i definately should have gone for a smaller one, but i like making a lot and then splitting it into portions and freezing it for mealsin the week.
