This wine was a freebie! I work in a sales office and it was our end of financial year sales meeting today. One of our suppliers brought in 20 odd bottles of wine, and i managed to grab a couple for myself
I prefer red wine to white, and when i opened this bottle tonight i was pleased. The label describes it as "a smooth, full-bodied red wine with smoky blackberry flavours and a hint of spice given by ageing in American oak barrels."
This wine, to me, has a deep smell (not that i actually know much about wine really!!) and a smoky flavour. You can taste the fruit, and it doesn't leave your mouth dry like some reds do. The label says to serve with red meat, but this leaves me with a craving for cheese! This would go perfectly with cheese and crackers with piccalilli! I would definitely buy this if i saw it in the shop.
I was always told that you can tell a good red by how deep the indent is in the bottom of the bottle, as the sediment settles better (not sure if thats true, but iv always found it a good rule to go by!). The bottom of this bottle goes in really far, so if that story is true, then it's a good wine! |
