Pappa col pomodoro is a staple in Tuscan cuisine.
It's so famous that there is also a song from a very old TV show that talks about it. The song name is "viva la pappa col pomodoro", and you can even find it on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqIKVEh9BPI
About your menu, it sounds good but Frittata di Asparagi (that's the right spelling) is usually not a 1st course.
In Italy, first course is 99% of the time pasta based or a soup.
Ciao, Guido

Frittata is a second course, also used to make sandwiches or even used as appetizer.

Honestly, I think you can still go for it as first course, it's not a drama anyway. I have a friend that would eat frittata also for breakfast instead of cappuccino and biscotti! Smile

Have fun in the kitchen and let us know how it did!
