it's our CEO's birthday on Tuesday, and i've been asked to make her an orange drizzle cake. The only nice looking cake I can find calls for Yellow Cake mix as one of the ingredients. I have no idea what this is! We have cake mixes here in the UK - Betty Crocker devils food cake, kids cupcake mixes etc etc, but nothing called yellow cake. What is this please?? Also, can I make a yellow cake from regular ingredients?? _________________ I like cake. And pie. And mash. So sue me! Food is good and i'd rather be me and happy than skinny and miserable! |

This is a standard (18.25 oz) yellow cake mix:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 cup non-fat dry milk
it probably has vanilla flavor as well.
Substiture the 1/2 cup of dry milk with 3/4 cup low-fat milk and add a teaspoon of vanilla.
It should work. _________________ In vino veritas! |

I'm glad it was a hit.
I find incredile some people have to buy a pre made mix for something that easy. _________________ In vino veritas! |

Paula I was just reading this recipe again, and wondering how you mixed it up. Did you add butter? I noticed it's not listed in the "recipe" Guido posted. _________________ Life's short...eat dessert first. |

I didn't post a recipe!
I only posted substitution for the yellow cake mix, which, I found on the internet, is just flour, yeast, sugar, dry milk and vamilla flavor. _________________ In vino veritas! |

the recipe asked for butter as well. it called for yellow cake mix, butter, milk and other things. it was the yellow cake mix that i didn't know what it was but i guess thats all the dry ingredients and you're just adding the wet stuff _________________ I like cake. I have several cake recipes that start with a yellow cake mix, but the orange drizzle cake sounds interesting. I'd love to have the recipe. _________________ Life's short...eat dessert first. |
