This is a great red wine from southern Italy. (Apulia region)

Intense red like the blood, it leaves the sign on the lips of who tastes it. It attracts people for the deep color and its unmistakable, nevertheless limpid and transparent scent.

The Primitivo changes according to the way it's made, but it remains always strong, sturdy, a little wild one, evoking pleasant feelings and heating the heart and the mind.

The origin of the selection of the plant and subsequently the definition of Primitivo comes attributed to a church man, Don Francisco Filippo Indelicati , which noticed that between the vines he lovingly cultivates, there was a vine that reached maturation before all, gave a particularly tasty and sweet grape and could be harvested already by the end of August.

The success of these grapes was such that it pushed the cultivators of Gioia del Colle to extend it to surrounding lands.
In Manduria and hinterland, the vine has found, an optimal natural habitat, especially in the land close to the sea, but also elsewhere, the vine favors the climate that promotes the natural withering of the fruit, that increase sugars and elevate's the alcoholic grade.

Primitivo is a wine that is drunk in small sips, slowly slowly with parsimony, to discover its rich and aromatic bouquet.
Classic wine from meditation, extolled from poets and writers, it's great with roasted meat and game, reaching top with sauces and spicy foods.
Aged, instead, it finds its perfect positioning with the "Pugliesi" (from Apuliae) confectionery specialties made up of almond paste, such as the typical “scajuèzzuli” and “cupeta”.

I agree paula, I had to edit it a bit because I could tell Guido had translated it from Italian, but as I read, I imagined rich sun drenched hills and could almost taste the wine on my lips.

It should but I have seen some online shops selling it at insane price. I understand they sell numbered bottles, limited production, but £90 is a plain robbery.

Here it sells from € 5 to € 20 for a very very good DOCG bottle.
