This morning while talking to Guido online, I remembered that Australia and other southern hemisphere countries celebrate Christmas, New Years etc in their summer months.

I began to wonder about their traditions, what foods they prepare, and how they celebrate.

To our friends down under, please post a reply here and tell us about your holiday traditions.
Some day I hope to visit Australia with Guido. Even better would be Yummyfood meetings around the world!

It's a matter of taste I suppose. I found vegemite very salty. They sell it here in the states.

Smile Hi there I've just signed up to this website. Christmas in New Zealand, in my family, we slave away in the hot kitchen and have traditional roast turkey for Christmas lunch with all the trimmings. We all end up with a mountain of dishes to do afterwards but hardly able to do them because we have eaten so much! Many Kiwis have a bbq Christmas lunch which makes more sense but my family have always had extended family members for Christmas day and eat lots of food, drink lots of fine wine and when dishes are finally done, normally an afternoon siesta is in order!
