Ok, random question, what's your favourite drink to order when you go out for coffee, why, and how much does it cost?

Mine is Starbucks Grande Skinny Extra Hot Latte £2.40
I don't like full fat milk so thats why i get Skinny drinks, I buy extra hot because it lasts me a good while, and I don't like drinking my drink when it's luke warm. I prefer the taste of Starbucks coffee to Costa, and the cheaper cafes only do instant coffee, not fresh.

Keri's is Starbucks (Mini Sized) Signature Hot Chocolate £0.00 (free because she only has a takeaway espresso size)
She likes it because they put chocolate sauce on top for her on top of the whipped cream, and then give her a spoon and a straw. Because it's only luke warm, she pretends it's an ice cream with the spoon and it keeps her occupied for ages, giving mummy time to chill out for a bit Smile

Espresso € 0.75
Cappuccino € 1.00

But I have my Gran Gaggia espresso machine at home, so my coffee is cheaper and better of any other place.

I think Starbuck's coffee is simply HORRIBLE.
Overt-roasted, over-burned over-brewed, and last but not least, over-priced
I guess that's why they do not dare to open here in Italy. they would die in no time.
Do they know that coffee must be ground and brewed differently according to the weather?. I guess no. They sure are good in marketing, but they know nothing about coffee.
Listen an idiot: boycott Starbucks and buy an espresso machine. In a month it will pay itself.
Oh! and smack with a baseball bat who serve instant coffee in a bar!!!

Signed
The coffee geek.
Very Happy

I do agree that Starbucks is expensive, luckily though, I get to claim coffees back on my expenses in the week :-p

Is there a machine that you can buy for domestic use that makes Latte? I only tried espresso once - that was in Starbucks - but it was so gross that I couldn't drink it. I can always taste too if the beans are old - in Costa, the coffee always tastes bitter to me, like it's been left standing for a while in the pot thingy before they serve it. If it tastes like that, I have to have it with sugar.

I don't get the idea of frappucino (spelling??) either, cold coffee is manky at the best of times, but with froth and stuff on must taste gross, surely????

All espresso machines that are not toys have the nozzle for steam and hot water so you can also make tea.

My Gaggia BabyD cost about € 215 here in Italy.
Kate's Gaggia Carezza, cost about € 120.

Going back to the "gross" espresso coffee you got at starsux... That confirm what I'm saying.
Here in Italy, you can get an espresso everywhere, and you will never get that bitter-burned backtaste.
And yes, a good bar here in Italy is the one that uses at least 3 KG (6 lbs) of coffee everyday.
Btw, to make an espresso you use 7 grams of coffee..... go figure.

Most coffee drinks begin with espresso. Cappuccino is simply a shot of espresso with steamed milk and foam. Add chocolate syrup to espresso along with the steamed milk and whipped cream on top and you have a mocha.

I have to tell you, I have a Baby Gaggia here and no matter what, Guido makes the absolute best cappuccino I have ever had. Cofeeee

You won't be sorry.

I love iced coffee's. I make extra strong coffee and pour it over ice, add a little fat free half & half and a little sugar, very refreshing on a hot day.

I've had Starbucks frappuccino, it's ok but at almost $5. and at least 1000 calories, forget it. I make better at home.
