|
|
Made in the Pre-Apennine area around the municipality of Piglio, between Rome and Frosinone, this wine has a ruby red color with tendency to maroon when aged.
Grapes: cesanese di affile e/o comune (90%-100%) sangiovese e/o montepulciano e/o barbera e/o trebbiano toscano(passerana) e/o bombino bianco(ottenese) (%-10%)
Usually is made in three different types: dry still, dry sparkling, sweet still
It has a very warm and soft taste, slighty bitter at the end with a delicate aroma.
Aging is fine for two to five years, laying.
This is an "all purpose" wine, but it's perfect with BBQ when it is at least one year old. Sever at 18°C (64°F) opening the bottle 2 hours before serving.
Prices: Ok I'm close to Piglio, so i go directly to the winemaker and i bottle it by myself and it cost me five bucks per litre..., Internationally they can vary , average price for a a good bottle. is around $18.
Hint: try it with our spaghetti alla "gricia" you wont be disappointed.....
