|
|
My sister passed this on to me, a letter thanking her for her participation in the program below. I was in shock at what I read, and I was totally clueless about this practice. I urge all my readers to look into and sign this bill.
Thank you for helping to convince California legislators and Governor Schwarzenegger to enact important legislation in California that would thwart the USDA’s efforts to keep secret the names of retailers that are selling recalled contaminated meat. The agreement signed by the California Department of Health Services and the USDA in 2002 leaves consumers in the dark when potentially tainted meat is recalled by the USDA. Consumers have a right to the information they need to protect themselves and their families from contaminated foods.
There’s one more thing that you can do to help. Simply forward the email below to your friends and family and urge them to join you in urging the California legislature and Governor Schwarzenegger to sign SB 611.
Thanks so much for your help!
Sincerely,
Minerva Novoa

I just sent an email to the Governor and my California Legislature to undo the USDA pact to keep the public in the dark about retailers of recalled meat. I hope you will support SB 611 also.

| thats just gross. you have a right to know what companies are trying to palm off tainted meat so you know not to buy from them privately, or any of their meat in the superrmarket just in case its bad! |

I agree. If meat is recalled, I want to know if I have some in my fridge or freezer so I can throw it out and get a refund. They do this with other foods. I buy most of my meat from a small local store that sells good quality products and I have been very satisfied for the most part. I miss the little butcher shop where I used to get the most wonderful cuts of meat...sigh _________________ A closed mouth gathers no feet. |

| i find the local supermarket really good for meat, tesco does really good quality and iv found it loads better than the butchers. if i found out that i might have brought anything dodgy then id be straight down to the shops demanding my money back! i wouldnt buy from them again if they didnt refund my money. theres no way i would eat or feed my daughter meat that could be bad. |

I agree. I have bought seafood at a local market only to find it is spoiled when I get home and open it up. I never keep it in my fridge longer than an hour or so, but it looks like they did. Now I go elswhere and so far so good. _________________ A closed mouth gathers no feet. |
