This year is going to be a just my daughter and myself for Thanksgiving, so I am not cooking quite as much as usual. We will have some serious girl time, take in a couple of movies and walk on the beach. Yeah I live in Southern Calif, and we're haveing a heat wave!
I can't wait for Guido to experience a real American Thanksgiving. Next year he will be here permanetly and I plan on taking him up to my families, or having them down here if we have enough room. I'll be cooking for days! From my home to yours, have a wonderful and warm Thanksgiving!
Herbed Roast Turkey
Cranberry and Apple Dressing
Turkey Gravy
Marmalad Glazed Sweet Potatoes
Green Bean Casserole
Fresh Cranberry Relish
Pumpkin Pie with Vanilla whipped cream
Dutch Apple Pie (yes I need to post the recipe!) _________________ A closed mouth gathers no feet. |

OK OK i'm starting a diet now... bread and water for a year.. so i can afford a thanksgiving next year
One more seriuos issue.. the wine:
I am italian so with roasted turkey i'd go for Barbera d'Asti or, being very classic, a Chianti.
A muscat, is the right choice for the dessert. For the richer (not to say the richest lol) i'd absolutely go for a Passito di Pantelleria, but it's 80 bucks per bottle, so i gonna give up on it
have an "happy meal"... Opppps did I say "happy meal"? shame on me
note: a real espresso coffee or a shot of limoncello is mandatory.....
Happy Thanksgiving!

I was thinking how a thanksgiving menu would be here in Italy:
Pasta is a "must" so i'd go for homemade pumpkins ravioli in butter and sage sauce.
Roasted turkey as second course, with porcini mushrooms, and boiled potatoes with extravirgin olive oil and parsley as sidedish.
For dessert, a ricotta custard, and/or panna cotta with cranberry sauce.
Of course espresso coffee, and a choice of grappa or limoncello.
Dad? Mom? what's for lunch tomorrow?? _________________ In vino veritas! |
