They bothered you for years. they said you should stop eating all that FAT.
A 415 million dollars study demostrate now that just putting older women on a low-fat diet did not significantly reduce their risk of breast cancer, colon cancer, strokes or heart disease, as they had hoped.
That doesnt mean you should run to the nearest fast food and have your face stuffed, but Marcia Stefanick, a professor of medicine at the Stanford Prevention Research Center, chairwoman of the steering committee for the Women's Health Initiative study said "Just switching to low-fat foods is not likely to yield much health benefit in most women,"
"Rather than trying to eat low-fat," she said, "women should focus on reducing saturated fats and trans fats," the so-called "bad" fats, while maintaining their intake of "good" fats, such as vegetable, olive and fish oils.
Does this ring you a bell?
Probably not if you are not Italian, but remember, oil, fish, and veggies are the basis of italian cuisine.
For an healthy life, sto putting half bottle of ranch dressing in your salad, and just drizzle some extra virgin olive oil (much better if cold press)
and a dash of vinegar, or lemon juice.
Ah! be carefull with salt!
note: Although the study involved only women, the findings probably apply to men as well, said Jacques Rossouw of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, which funded the $415 million study.
Male, Female, or Undecided , You have no excuse!

| i've also noticed at the supermarket how much salt and sugar "low fat" ready meals have in them. It is much healthier, tastier and fun to make your own meals where you know exactly how much salt etc is in the food. it also works out cheaper. Theres no excuse of "not having enough time" as many meals can be made ahead and frozen - im a single working mum and i have plenty of time to make home made meals every night! |
