Weird Chocolate

My boss went on a business trip to Germany the other week, and brought me back some really strange chocolates (as im such a hard worker!!!). He brought beetroot chocolate, which surprisingly was really nice - my 3 year old daughter ate most of that one! horse milk and oatmeal chocolate, which is nice but chewy, and im quite concerned about what might be making it chewy!! Chilli chocolate which burnt my mouth and is downright disgusting! and normal chocolate. i never realised how many different kinds of chocolates there are out there, especially in different countries. iv never heard of any of them. are there any weird chocolates in america or italy?

I just noticed this post Paula! Sorry bout that. We have all sorts of "designer" chocolates here with all manner of flavors. There is a chocolate shop that we will have to try when you come over. They have chilli chocolate there as well. Guido said that his Dad bought some chili chocolate that was nice and only moderately hot. I have yet to try it. I put unsweetened chocolate in my chili, it brings a nice depth to the overal flavor, but you really don't taste it.

ooh, iv never tried chocolate in chilli before! i'll have to try that next time i make chilli. I'll definitely have to check out the chocolate shop, they're my favourite kinds of shops!! We have a place called "Hotel Chocolat" here, the chocolate is sooooo nice, but really expensive. My boss brought me chocolates from there for christmas and i sneakily checked them out on the internet. They were £60!!! My god, i thought a fiver for a box was a lot! They are worth it though, they are delicious.

Many true Mexican dishes use chocolate as an ingredient, such as some mole sauces. Last year when I was in Italy, Guido's Dad wanted to taste my chili. When I asked mama for a little of her dark chocolate stash, she thought I was pazzo (crazy)!
Everyone loved it though. Guido and Papa make great sous chefs. I tend to go back in time when I have a kitchen full of people and bark out orders haha.

Back to chocolate, we have Godiva here and I really don't see what all the excitement is with it. It's very expensive but in my opinion not really worth the price.

Some chocolates or chocolate shops are like that. We have Thorntons which is a chocolate shop, and although its really expensive, it tastes just like any normal chocolate. It's nothing special, but people always go on about how great it is. I think some people think that because something is expensive thats its better than the cheaper stuff. In my opinion, Cadburys Fruit and Nut is much better Smile

You are so right. Even though I am not a chocolate fanatic, I love to work with chocolate and I have had the chance to work with some of the finest chocolate. Valrone is supberb and one chocolate I would eat alone. But I'm with you, I love Cadbury fruit and nut bars!
