Confort food here in Italy means only one word: PASTA!
Macaroni, m'hai provocato e mo me te magno....
this is a famous sentence from a movie with Alberto Sordi, "An american in Rome" that means "Macaroni, you provoked me and now i'm gonna eat you"

Not a problem
We are not afraid of competitors!
I go to other websites to see their recipes, and compare to ours.
What makes yummyfood different is that we want to have a bit of control over the posted recipes , and if something smell "fishy" we ask the poster to explain better, or at the very end, we cook the dish first to see how it is.
We only ask our users, to cite the source of a recipe if they got from other websites.

For comfort food with me it's either mashed potatoes, dripping with real butter, heinz tomato soup, or dulce de leche. All I do to make this is get a can of sweetened condensed milk, put it, unopened, in a large saucepan of water. Bring to the boil and then turn down to a light simmer and leave it for three hours, and keep checking that the can is always covered with water. It sounds dangerous but as long as it's covered with water, and not boiling the whole time, it's safe. Leave it for half an hour before opening. It makes a very rich, dark brown caramel and is gorgeous. I like to dip bananas in it, make banoffee pie using this as the filling, or just spread on toast, pancakes or crumpets. Too sweet for some, but I like it Smile

Hmmm a mashed potato sandwich. I like seasoned mashed potatoes on a po boy sandwich, or potato salad. You can boil the can as karen said, just on very low heat and keeping it covered in water. You can also put it in a crock pot on high heat for about 5 hours. Another method is to empty the sweetened condensed milk into a baking pan. Cover very tightly with foil, place in a larger pan of water and bake at 275 for 3 to 4 hours.
