An Italian study has found an surprising correlation between eating chocolate and sexual fulfillment: Women who love chocolate seem to have better love lives, according to researchers.
More than 150 women at a Milan hospital between ages 26-44 filled out questionnaires about sexual function which included various lifestyle and psychological indices. Of that number, some 80 percent reported they frequently ate chocolate. Moreover, overall sexual function and desire were significantly greater among the chocolate-eaters than among those in the older group who were more likely to spurn chocolate, according to the study.
Although the lead researcher isn't sure the connection between chocolate and a healthier libido is a sure thing, taking drugs like Viagra, Levitra and Enzyte that have been linked to several health issues certainly aren't the answer. For example, Viagra has been identified as a potential risk factor for heart disease, stroke and infertility.
If you want to try chocolate, follow these three simple rules:
* Eat it only if you're healthy.
* Make sure to eat it in moderation.
* Limit your consumption to dark chocolate, as it has antioxidant properties that can protect the body from damaging oxidative stress. (Adding milk to the process--meaning the milk chocolate bars you find at most grocery stores--cancels out its beneficial antioxidant effects of chocolate.)
