It's long been known that eating oatmeal can lower cholesterol. But what if your family won't eat oatmeal?
The solution...disguise it in foods they love. Add oatmeal or oat bran as a binder instead of bread crumbs in meatloaf and meat balls. Grind some oatmeal in a blender or food processor and use as part of the flour in a cookie or cake recipe. 1/2 cup of ground oatmeal in a recipe using 3 cups of flour will make little change in the finished product and give a big nutrional punch. I never make muffins without adding oatmeal or oat bran. One of my favorite things to do with oatmeal is to make a fruit crisp. There great for breakfast and the topping is made using mostly oatmeal. I haven't seen a kid yet that would turn down warm apple crisp at breakfast. fruit and oatmeal at the same time. Look for my fruit crisp recipe in breakfast and desserts. Chef

I'm not sure what porridge oats are. I love oatmeal too. We're having what is known as a santa Ana here in So Cal, very warm and dry. It's 10 pm and I have my windows and doors open!

porridge oats are like white flakes of oats rather than the tiny grains that oatmeal is, they're more powdery too. its quite warm here at the moment for october too but not warm enough to have the windows and doors open at night! i have my windows open and the sun is shining, but is 2.15pm! if i go outside ill need a jumper on
