|
|
Over the past year I have been collating all of my recipes, plus devising new recipes, into a book - with photos and everything. I don't know what made me want to write a book, but once I started doing it, I really enjoyed it. I made a really great book with commentry and loads of colour photos and I was really proud of it. Finding someone to publish it though is proving to be an absolte nightmare!! Publishers actually like my book, they tell me it's a really good idea, coming at the right time because all of the celebrity chefs are also releasing their books. The only problem is, I am not a celebrity chef, and as a result, even though they like my cook book, publishers won't risk publishing it incase it doesn't sell! That is of course apart from Dorrance publishing, who want to charge me $9000US for the privelidge of publishing a book that I wrote!! The only other option seems to be self publishing, which is going to cost me around £800. I know thats a lot less, but my book is about SAVING money because of the current economic crisis and the fact that not everyone in the world is loaded! Is there anyone else out there who has tried and succeeded in publishing a cookery book - but who is not a famous chef? Please give me some advice! _________________ I like cake. And pie. And mash. If i do not recall wrong, Amazon has a self publishing service.
I'd have a look there. _________________ In vino veritas! |

Thanks. It can't be worse than the £800 or so I was quoted by a company here in Milton Keynes!!!! _________________ I like cake. And pie. And mash. So sue me! Food is good and i'd rather be me and happy than skinny and miserable! |

Dream big Paula, because you just never know what surprise lies around the corner.
Have you had your rough draft edited yet? That's a first step. My Dad wrote a book that was never published, but I remember he hired a college student to edit and clean it up. _________________ Life's short...eat dessert first. |
