I've run across several recipes sites offering a so called Italian Style Salad Dressing recipes, or using bottled one for different kind of dish.
Being 100% italian, and living in Rome I CAN tell we do not have that kind of dressing.
If you really want a fast easy condiment for your lettuce with tomatoes, or your boiled green beans, all you need is:
1 bottle of TOP quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 bottle of red wine vinegar
sea salt
If you do not like vinegar, use lemon juice.
generously sprinkle your salad with oil, a dash of vinegar or lemon juice, salt to taste.
This is the real Italian way.
Faster then this ............

When I saw this forum entry I was not surprised at Guido's comment. Italian style salad dressing is a New York invention I believe. I use it as a base for pasta salads, but make my own. After my first visit to Italy I found that I love just olive oil and sea salt on my salads. _________________ A closed mouth gathers no feet.
