Description:

Active Dry Yeast

A leavening agent used in breads and other baked goods. It is sold in packets as active dry yeast and in cakes as compressed yeast. With the popularity of bread machines, baking yeast can now be found in jars also. Yeast must be stored in a cool dry place and used before the experation date on the package. To test weather yeast is still alive, sprinkle a little over some warm water into which a little sugar has been dissolved. If it bubbles up after about 10 minutes it is still alive and good to use.
