Time | 15 minutes | | Cook Time | 1 hour | | Introduction | | I was looking for an orange drizzle cake recipe for our CEO's birthday cake. I could only find lemon drizzle cake recipes, and they all called for yellow cake mix. I had no idea what this was, so asked for help. This is the resulting recipe | | Ingredients | | 1 cup butter or margarine, softened,
2 cups sugar ,
4 eggs,
1 1/2 teaspoons orange extract,
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract ,
3 cups all-purpose flour ,
2 teaspoons baking powder,
1/2 teaspoon salt ,
1 cup milk,
1 tablespoon grated orange zest,
GLAZE:
1/4 cup orange juice,
1 tablespoon water,
1/2 teaspoon orange extract,
3/4 cup powdered_sugar | | Directions | | Step: 1 | In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. | | Step: 2 | Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in extracts. | | Step: 3 | Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Stir in orange zest. | | Step: 4 | Pour into a greased and floured 10-inch fluted tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees F (125c) for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. | | Step: 5 | Cool for 10 minutes; invert onto a wire rack. Cool 10 minutes longer. Place rack on waxed paper. | | Step: 6 | Combine glaze ingredients; drizzle over the warm cake. Cool completely before serving |

In case anyone is wondering why Paula didn't know what a yellow cake mix was, she said they don't have them in England. Betty Crocker are you listening? |
