Time | 10 minutes | | Cook Time | 15 to 20 minutes | | Introduction | | I love scones and these are really quick to make. They make a nice addition to afternoon tea or with breakfast. | | Ingredients | | 3 cups all_purpose_unbleached_flour 1/3 cup granulated_sugar 1/2 teaspoon baking_soda 2-1/2 teaspoons baking_powder 3/4 cup cold unsalted butter , cut into small pieces 1 cup buttermilk
| | Directions | | Step: 1 | Stir together flour, sugar, baking soda, and baking powder. Cut butter into dry ingredients. Make a well in center and add buttermilk. Stir with a fork until the mixture leaves the side of the bowl.
Divide dough into 2 equal portions. Roll dough out on a well floured board to about 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into with a round biscuit cutter or cut dough with a knife to make 12 square scones.Place scones on cookie sheet sprayed with non-stick spray. Brush tops with a little milk or cream. Bake at 350 for 15 to 20 minutes or until tops are nicely browned. Serve warm with your favorite jam or honey. |
