Semifreddo Allo Zabaglione | Status Approved | | Name | Semifreddo Allo Zabaglione | | Category | Desserts, Italian | | Serves/Yields | 6 servings | | Source | Kate | | Difficulty | Easy | | Prep. Time | 15 minutes | | Cook Time | About 10 minutes | | Introduction | | I love zabaglione (prounced zab-ay-on-e). It's light and creamy texture is the perfect ending to a great meal. Usually it's served chilled in a wine glass, but Guido sent me this recipe while we chatted this morning. The picture shows a 2 layered Semifreddo that is decorated. But it can also be served right from the pan it's frozen in and the plated portions can be garnished as desired. This would make a wonderful Valentine's dessert.... | | Ingredients | | 8 egg yolks 1 cup sugar 1 pkg ladyfingers (soviardi biscuits available in our Amazon store are best) 1 pint whipped cream 10 oz. dry Marsala
| | Directions | | Step: 1 | In a large bowl, beat the egg yolks with the sugar until very thick and lemon colored. Turn the mixer down to low and add the Marsala a tablespoon at a time. Pour mixture into a saucepan over a very low heat or in a bain-marie and continue beating with a wire whisk until the mixture becomes foamy. Pour it in a bowl and let cool. Fold in the whipped cream and pour the mixture into a deep cake pan or baking dish lined with ladyfingers moistened with Marsala. Freeze for-at least 5 hours. Unmold onto a plate and garnish as desired.
