Introduction

A very nice Dutch lady I met recently told me about this recipe. I did some research on it and came up with this recipe. I played with the original recipe I found and spiced it up a little. The results are delicious.

Ingredients

1 pound (500 grams) chuck steak or bottom round beef
3 large onions
1/2 stick(50 grams)butter
5 tbsp flour
3 cups(700 ml) beef_stock
2 bay_leaves
2 whole cloves
salt and black pepper
2 tbsp red wine vinegar
1 tbsp granulated_sugar
1 tsp onion_powder

Directions
Step: 1

Cut the beef into cubes and season them with salt, pepper and onion powder, tossing to coat. Slice the peeled onions and sauté them in the butter until golden. Add the bay leaves and cloves. Remove the onions to a bowl.Add the meat to the onion pan and brown on all sides in the butter. Add the onions back with the meat and add the flour.Cook stirring constantly until the flour is a nutty brown.Gradually pour in the stock, stirring well. Add the vinegar and sugar and bring to a quick boil.

Turn down the heat and simmer for 75 minutes. Serve with boiled potatoes and braised red cabbage.
