Introduction
This is my recipe for my all time favorite pie, good old apple pie. Topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream it's heaven!
Ingredients

All_butter pie crust, recipe doubled
5 large Gala apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (about 5 cups sliced)
1/2 cup granulated_sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla_extract
1 tsp flour
2 Tbsps melted butter
Cinnamon sugar for top crust
1 Tbsp cream or milk

Directions
Step: 1

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
In a medium bowl, toss the apple slices, sugar, cinnamon , melted butter and vanilla and flour together.

Step: 2Transfer the apples to the pie shell, arranging them to fill as much empty space as possible and making an even layer.
Step: 3Carefully place the rolled-out top crust on top and pinch the edges together, turning under all around to make a thick edge.
Step: 4Flute the edges as desired. A fork dipped in flour and pressed around the edges works well. For a fancier edge, place the handle of a wooden spoon against the crust as shown, and with your index finger gently push the dough aginst the handle to make a ridge.
Step: 5

With a sharp knife, cut a few vent holes in the center of the top crust.

Step: 6Brush the top of the pie with cream, then sprinkle evenly with cinnamon sugar.
Place the pie on a sheet pan to catch any juices that boil over. Bake in the center of the oven for 10 minutes, then reduce the heat to 375 degrees and bake until the crust is golden brown and the juices are bubbling at the vents, 40 to 50 minutes more. Check the pie after 30 minutes; if the crust is browning too quickly, cover lightly with foil. Let cool at least 30 minutes before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature.
