Introduction
Kate asked me for some traditional English recipes, and I had to have a scour around for some as I never write down or take notice of how I make things, I just do it! Toad in the hole is my favorite, it reminds me of growing up with my dad and my sister and the smell of a nice warm kitchen on a cold rainy day.
Ingredients

100g / 4oz all purpose flour
1/2 level teaspoon of salt
1 egg
270 ml / 9fl oz milk
225g / 8oz pork sausage links

Directions
Step: 1Pre heat oven to 200 C / 400F/gas mark 6, and grease a shallow oven proof dish.
Step: 2Place the flour, egg, milk and salt in a large mixing bowl and whisk until smooth and lump free.
Step: 3Place sausages in the greased dish in a single layer then pour over the batter.
Step: 4

Bake in the oven for 40-45 minutes until well risen and golden brown.

Note: Try not to open the oven door during the cooking process or pudding may not rise. Serve immediately with an onion gravy and chopped cabbage or other green vegetable.

I have been u nder the weather this weekend and in need of comfort food. This sounded like just the thing and I was right. I made a light beef wine gravy for it and it was delicious!
