Introduction
My sister always used to make this when we were kids, I don't have a clue where she got the recipe from, probably school. I asked her for the recipe, its lovely, so moreish. I remember she would make it and within an hour of it coming out of the oven it was gone! I think its a traditional recipe from Lancashire or Yorkshire in England. Not sure which.
Ingredients
8 oz Self Raising flour
8 oz oatmeal
2 tsp ginger
4 oz margarine
4 Tbs granulated_sugar
8 oz treacle (molasses)
1/2 pint milk
Directions
Step: 1Rub margarine into flour and oatmeal until crumbly.
Step: 2Add sugar and ginger, mix thoroughly.
Step: 3Warm treacle and mix into the oatmeal and flour mixture along with the milk until a thick batter forms.
Step: 4Pour into a greased loaf tin and bake for 1 hour in a slow oven (about 150 C) (300F). Serve warm.
