Introduction
A great homemade gift for the BBQ fanatic is a brine jar. I was thinking about those jars of cookie ingredients and instructions. I thought that would be a good idea for brining ingredients.
Ingredients

In a wide mouth quart mason jar layer ingredients in this order.

11/4 cups kosher rock salt
1 1/2 cups dark brown sugar
1/4 cup dry mustard powder
4 tablespoons dried garlic chips
1 tablespoon cracked black peppercorns
1/4 cup paprikah
2 tablespoons dried parsley flakes
2 teaspoons dried rosemary

Directions
Step: 1Lightly pack down the brown sugar to make a base for the other layers.
Seal the jar with a decorative canning lid and attach a note with the instructions on how to use.
Step: 2How to use:
Bring 1 1/2 gallons water to a boil in a large stock pot. Add contents of jar and simmer 15 minutes. Cool completely. Add whole or cut up chickens, pork roast or turkey. Place in the refrigerator and let sit 24 hours. Rinse meat under cool water to wash away excess salt. Pat dry and smoke, bake or barbecue as desired.
