Introduction

I learned my pie making skills from my Mom. This is one of my favorite pies but ohhhh is it rich! T You can use a store bought pie crust (Pillsbury is really good) or your favorite crust recipe. Walnuts also work well with this recipe. There is some controversy as to whole vs chopped pecans. I chop them roughly because it makes a better nut top, easier to eat, more flavor and...you can get more nuts in!

Ingredients

3 large eggs slightly beaten
1 cup dark Karo_syrup
3/4 cup granulated_sugar

1/4 cup light brown_sugar
2 Tbsp melted butter
1 tsp vanilla_extract
1 tsp flour
1/8 tsp salt
1 cup pecans , roughly chopped

Directions
Step: 1

Prepare a 9 inch pie crust, set aside. Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Step: 2Beat eggs slightly and add sugars, syrup, salt, flour, vanilla and butter. Mix well to combine. Add pecans and mix to coat the nuts.
Step: 3Pour into the pie shell and bake at 400 for 15 minutes. Turn oven down to 350 degrees and continue baking for 30 to 35 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. If crust begins to brown to much, place a flat piece of aluminum foil over the top.

When the pie is done, remove from oven and let cool 10 minutes, then loosly cover the top with foil. This helps the pie develop a syrupy texture. Cool completely before serving
