Introduction
This is a sauce for ham that is popular in the south, where fruit is often served with pork and chicken. My sisters always ask me to make this around the holidays when we are having a ham for dinner.
Ingredients

1 cup seedless black raisins
3 cups water
2 tbl butter
3/4 cup brown sugar , packed
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
3 tsp cornstarch

Optinal: Add a few strips of orange peel to the sauce as it sits overnight for a different flavor.

Directions
Step: 1

Bring the water to a boil in a heavy saucepan. Add raisins, salt and sugar and cook for 5 minutes.Remove from heat and cover. Let the sauce sit overnight un refigerated (prefered) or at least 8 hours. When your ready to serve the sauce, bring to a boil and add the butter and cinnamon. Mix the corn starch with a little water to make a thin paste and add to the boiling sauce, stirring constantly. Sauce will be thin but if too thin add a little more corn starch and water.

This sauce is also great on pancakes and ice cream.
