Introduction
I was given this recipe by my dear friend Jim’s Mom, Alice.
Alice is no longer with us so this recipe is special to me, just like her son is.
Be sure to read the recipe through before starting.
This cake must be left in the pan it’s baked in and iced as soon as it comes out of the oven.

 

Ingredients

 
For the cake

In a large bowl combine the following:
2 cups Wondra Flour                                             
2 cups granulated sugar
2 eggs
½ cup sour cream
½ teas salt
1 teas baking soda
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
 
Then in a medium saucepan combine the following:

2 sticks butter or margarine
1 cup water
4 heaping tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
Bring to a boil and cook for 1 minute.
Cool slightly and add to the ingredients in the mixing bowl. Combine well.

 For The frosting

In sauce pan used for the butter and water add the following
1 stick butter or margarine
7 tablespoons milk
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 teaspoon vanilla

Bring to a boil and cook 2 minutes. Then add a 1 pound box powdered sugar and beat until smooth. Chopped nuts may be added if you wish.

Directions
Step: 1

Grease and flour a standard sized cookie sheet with sides.

Spread batter in prepared pan and bake at 350 degrees about 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.When cake is baked,immediately apply frosting to the hot cake.
