| I bought these a few weeks ago now for my daughter's packed lunches at her childminder's house. I figured they would be great because they were so small and because they were filled with Gel instead of water, they were supposed to stay frozen for longer. The gel packs came in a set of 3 ice packs, and they freeze within a matter of a few hours, which is fantastic. They are really light and all 3 packs can fit easily into my daughter's lunch bag. But... within about 2 hours these are defrosted and getting warm - and it's only June! We've hardly had a hot day at all yet! I wasn't impressed, but I kept using them... until I noticed the second problem - I brought these about a month ago I think now, and already the gel has somehow come completely out of one of the packs and a second pack is feeling slightly deflated. I can't see any puncture marks on the packs, but am worried that the gel from these is seeping into my daughter's lunch, as it doesn't seem to be anywhere in the bag!
Needless to say, I have stopped using these gel packs altogether because I am worried where the disappearing gel may be going. I thought these were a good buy originally because of the price. I was slightly irritated at the cost of shipping because they weigh next to nothing, but after a month or so of using these, I am not impressed at all. I will continue to look for something to keep my daughter's lunch fresh and chilled throughout the morning. |
